Check zoning, fire approval, fuel or gas installations, air emissions, waste handling and any environmental authorisations applicable to the process. Review inspection notices, neighbour complaints and conditions limiting furnace operation or expansion.

Review risk assessments, extraction, air monitoring, occupational hygiene reports, medical surveillance and protective equipment for silica, colourants, fumes, noise and heat. Investigate abnormal results, worker complaints and controls failing during peak production.

Inspect specifications, batch records, furnace temperatures, annealing cycles, thickness or dimensional checks and breakage tests appropriate to each product. Trace complaints and rejects to batches, operators, raw materials and equipment settings.

Verify ownership, maintenance and inspection records for furnaces, kilns, compressors, cylinders, pressure equipment, lifting devices and emergency systems. Quantify refractory replacement, energy efficiency, breakdown exposure and assets approaching end of life.

Count raw glass, cullet, chemicals, moulds, work in progress and finished pieces by usable condition. Reconcile input weight to saleable output, breakage, remelting and disposal, separating customer-owned moulds and obsolete designs.

Map critical skills across forming, blowing, finishing, furnace control, maintenance and quality inspection. Review contracts, pay, training and succession, then test whether orders can be completed safely during absence of key craftspeople.
