    FAQ
    • Which electrical registrations must exist after the acquisition?
Verify the business's Department of Employment and Labour contractor registration and the scope of every registered person it employs. Confirm the post-sale staffing structure, because only registered persons may issue electrical Certificates of Compliance.
    • Can completed jobs be matched to valid electrical CoCs?
Sample invoices against numbered CoCs, test reports, inspection results and the registered person responsible. Investigate unsigned, amended, duplicate or retrospective certificates, and quantify remedial exposure where work was subcontracted or completed outside the signatory's permitted scope.
    • What happens if the registered electrician leaves?
Review employment terms, notice periods, qualifications, registration scope, succession and customer relationships for each critical electrician. Make completion conditional on a workable retention or replacement plan, not an informal promise that the signatory will remain available.
    • Are test instruments and service assets dependable?
Inspect meters, testers, tools, ladders, protective equipment and vehicles by serial number and ownership. Review calibration, maintenance, damage and finance agreements, then budget replacements needed to perform inspections safely and support defensible test results.
    • Does the electrical order book contain real margin?
Reconcile signed orders, deposits, materials, subcontractors, site progress, variations and payment terms. Re-cost incomplete work and exclude speculative quotations, disputed claims or projects whose margin depends on unavailable staff, outdated pricing or delayed imported equipment.
    • Can the contractor retain its government-project capacity?
Check current cidb grading, class of works, annual updates and tender limits where public construction work is undertaken. Match claimed track record to awards, completion and payment evidence, and assess how ownership changes affect tender credentials.
